The Rutlanders Return

Calling all actors, directors, musicians, set builders, stage hands or anyone with an interest in being part of the community play The Rutlanders Return. Arts for Rutland has secured a £9,900 grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund to research and create a touring play and education resource about the return of military personnel to Rutland after the First World War, and the effect it had on their families and the community, and this has now been researched by a local team and a play has been written from the stories they have unearthed.
There will be an open meeting at Rutland County Museum on Wednesday 9 May at 6:30pm, when the writer, stage manager, director and musical director will talk about this exciting project, and which will be a chance to express an interest in being involved. Arts for Rutland hopes that everyone in Rutland who has an interest in music and theatre will want to join them in this exciting venture.

The play will be performed at Rutland County Museum on Thursday 25 October, Uppingham Town Hall on 27 October and other villages during that week. There will also be a performance for school children. Rehearsals will be taking place from late summer and anyone interested in being part of the event is very welcome, whatever sphere of interest they have. It will also be great fun and a chance to meet new people and learn from the professional team.
