Last Wednesday (23 September) marked the second birthday of Rutland Food Bank. During that time 1500 people have received emergency packs of food to last 3 days and 23.5 tonnes of food collected mostly by the generosity of local people.
Many thanks to all concerned, in whatever capacity, in making it such a success.
Currently we are short of sugar (preferably small bags), tinned sponge puddings, Smash, soup (tinned), savoury rice and long life fruit juice.
Over the last week or so we have received some very encouraging feedback from very appreciative people who have been helped in difficult times, and who are now able to, or plan to, give something back to help the cause – such stories make us realise how important the work is that the volunteers are doing.
On Friday 9 October there will be a coffee morning at the Baptist Church to raise money to buy family games for the Christmas Hampers, and all are very welcome to attend.
