Partnering to Help Homeless People

People in Oakham churches worry about how best to care for homeless people in Oakham, especially over this harsh winter. While Rutland County Council’s social services provide a range of services to care for and support people in difficulties, often in ways we are not aware of.

A small group from the churches have been exploring how we can partner with RCC: to target what we can do, so our efforts complement and extend theirs. To this end, we are organising an introductory meeting so that church people can meet the relevant council officers, and discuss what kinds of support and training would help us to help those in need.

The meeting was postponed due to bad weather, but is now scheduled for Thursday 22 March at 10:45-12:00 in Oakham Baptist Church. It would help us to get the right-size venue if those planning to go would kindly let Revd Iain Osborne know.
