Good news to start with and grateful thanks to all who arranged and supported the Summer Fayre, raising £1,237; plans already afoot for the Autumn Fayre, and for a summer one in June 2020.
Some worship matters were discussed – renewal of licences for Communion Assistants, and changes to third Sunday 10.30 lectionary readings to build more flexibility into that service were agreed, and reinstatement of a Worship Forum.
Provision of a wireless telephone to help in emergencies is in hand.
Finance report from Peter Hill shows little change from his last statement – tax recovery down, gift aid donations down, fabric costs up (louvres and window repairs). The Finance sub-committee are planning a stewardship renewal campaign for 6 October and are to highlight specific projects where cash will be urgently needed (Audio system is top of the list and Kevin Slingsby and his group are leading this; bell-frame work and improved lighting also; together with possible recruitment of staff to lead youth work, 3rd age and community involvement).
Ministry updates – currently a House for Duty post is being advertised; an apprentice youth worker shared with Uppingham may be joining us soon; Rev Rachel Thompson is to be licensed to join us as Minister in Secular Employment;
All Saints Oakham is to be a start point for a pilgrimage route to Peterborough Cathedral; a project to reveal the fascinating story of Queen Edith is agreed.
Electoral Roll additions now bring the total to 240 (If all on the Roll increased our monthly giving by £5 we would raise almost the same as a Summer Fayre every month. (Or how about weekly? – naughty observation by PCC Secretary).
