The 18th of July 2016 was a beautiful summer’s day. St Peter, Brooke was packed with people celebrating Ken’s life. The service was conducted by The Reverend Brian Nicholls. Connie Beadman played the organ for well loved hymns which were sung with great spirit.
Brian reminded us that, in former years, he and Ken both had businesses in Oakham. Ken was proprietor of the hardware shop that bore his name and, in his retirement, Ken’s knowledge of “diy” was of tremendous help in the upkeep of Brooke Church. He considered it a privilege to work on such a beautiful and historic building.
Adrian Ceney, Ken and Ann’s son-in-law, spoke movingly of Ken’s life and his talk was warmly received.
After the service everyone was invited to have tea at Bamsdale Hall Hotel.
