At 5pm on Sunday 9th October, Hambleton village celebrated our Annual Harvest Festival at St Andrew’s Church. The Service was conducted by Rev Canon Julie Hutchinson with Charlotte Osborn, the new Curate who is in training for the Benefice, preaching a Sermon on “Thankfulness”. Julia Naylor and Philip Hutchinson read the Bible Lessons and Gail Griffin played the organ. A large congregation attended the Service and the Church was beautifully decorated with flowers, fruit, giant marrows and pumpkins. A collection for Water Aid raised £286.50.
Following the Service, a Harvest Supper was held in the Village Hall. 56 villagers attended and Miranda Hall’s delicious Chicken Pie was served followed by a selection of homemade desserts. A large number of generously donated items were auctioned by Jeff Dale and distributed with gusto by Wilber Young a junior member of the village. The Auction raised £1,270 for the Church Repair Fund.
At 9.15am on Sunday the 13th November there will be a Service of Remembrance at St Andrew’s Church.
