The hearty portions of fish and chips were particularly welcome on such a damp and dreary day, as it was, on the first MU meeting of the New Year. Committee members had kindly provided good selection of hot and cold desserts, so an excellent lunch was enjoyed by all.
This was followed by the AGM, which was chaired by Pamela Woods in the absence of Meg Dyer. The reading of the minutes of the last AGM reminded us of the interesting and varied programme which we had had during the previous twelve months. The wine tasting evening in May had been a successful fund raiser resulting in a substantial sum donated to the Frances lunch project in Kettering. This imaginative scheme provides lunches, during school holidays, for children who would normally have a free school meal.
The programme for 2017 promises to be equally varied and interesting. The next meeting will be at 2.15pm, on Tuesday 9th February. A talk entitled “Love and Marriage in the 17th Century” will be given by Anne Blackett, one of our Churchwardens.
