Brooke News – May 2017

Our latest APCC meeting took place at Rose Cottage on the evening of Wednesday 5th April, thanks to Lee who chaired the meeting and Sheila who provided the venue, coffee and biscuits. Annual reports were read and discussed, committee members were happy to be re-elected and grateful thanks were expressed to the auditor, to all who continue to do all manner of jobs to fill in for empty committee posts and to maintain St Peter looking spic and span for our many visitors. Good wishes were also sent to Julie for her continuing recovery.

A letter had already been sent to the bishop highlighting our views and struggle to pay the increase in our parish share and the Treasurer will attend the Bishop’s Road Show on 29th April to reinforce these views. The following dates were set for events throughout the year;

At bell ringing practise at St Peter’s on Wednesday 5th April a special birthday was celebrated, Monica Spence who regularly rings on a Wednesday was 80 years young! Monica lives in Uppingham and is the wife of Canon Philip Spence the retired Rector of Preston, Ridlington and Pilton. A celebration cake made by Connie Beadman and drinks were shared by all the ringers after practise. Belated birthday wishes Monica, may you have many more happy ringing years ahead.
