Oakham Bells

oakham_bellringers

Oakham Church has a ring of eight bells cast by Gillett & Johnston in 1910, and a priest’s bell of 1840. They are rung regularly on Sunday mornings from 10:00 to 10:30am, before the morning service, by a team of keen ringers led by Tower Captain Louis Totaro. Practice night is Tuesday, from 7:30 to 9:00pm, which is well attended by local members and visitors and we strive to provide an environment where ringers of all abilities can develop their skills. Under Louis’s direction, the team maintain a very good standard of ringing, but as a perfectionist he is always looking for improvement!

The bells are also frequently rung for weddings and other special occasions, and we welcome occasional visiting teams of ringers during the year.

We would like to see our team with more ‘new blood’ and extend an invitation and encourage anyone who is interested to join us and come to have a go at ringing. Contact Louis Totaro on louis.totaro@oakhamteam.org.uk or 07990 621583.
