In addition to the regular Wednesday concerts, there will be a short series of four Friday concerts this winter, in which John Dobson will play Edward Macdowell’s four piano sonatas, which symmetrically surround the set of Woodland Sketches that give Edward Macdowell the Fur Elise moment – the ever popular and beautifully simple To a Wild Rose. Each of the sonatas will be preceded by this miniature along with one or more of the set of ten pieces.
