Lent Lunches Support Christian Aid

Dear Friends

Thank you very much for the generous donation of £790.51 towards the work of Christian Aid from the series of 5 Lent lunches held by Churches Together in Oakham and District. Please accept this letter as receipt of your donation with our grateful thanks for your support.

Christian Aid believes in strengthening people to find their own solutions to the problems they face. We do whatever is needed to support poor people and their communities, whether it’s speaking out against the causes of poverty or funding vital work on the ground. The generosity of our supporters means we are currently able to support over 600 partner organisations around the world as they work towards ending the injustice of poverty.

We hope your Lent lunches were fun! As you met for food and fellowship, the fantastic funds you raised will help other communities across the globe, communities struggling to escape poverty, to lift themselves into a better future. Christian Aid partners across the world are bringing new life in the darkest places, all thanks to tireless fundraisers like you. And in South Sudan, our focus country this Lent and .Easter, the situation is dark indeed, with millions in need of food since vicious fighting broke out in 2013. But Christian Aid’s dedicated partners are there. We’re helping people like Michael, who’s in his eighties, and had to flee home when soldiers raided his village. When he returned, everything he owned was gone. Fortunately, our partner gave him what he needed most: fishing equipment so he can support himself again. Now Michael’s rebuilding his life, and teaching his family to fish so that they can thrive in the future. Across South Sudan, and across the globe, we’re helping communities rebuild their lives against the odds.

Thank you so much for your continued support of our work with and for the poorest communities on earth. With your continued help, we can make a difference.

With kindest regards
