Langham’s Great Get Together and Summer Solstice celebration – Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th June

“We have more in common than that which divides us”

We are responding to the Jo Cox Foundation – supported by the Archbishop of Canterbury – to celebrate the life of Jo Cox and her vision that we have more in common than that which divides us. We will also be celebrating the traditional festival of Midsummer, plus Father’s Day and, to top all that, it is 50 years since the Beetles released their Sgt. Pepper album.

This is an inclusive family friendly event for the whole village to come together. It will take place in our lovely Church, our village’s landmark and the place where our ancestors have worshipped God for over 800 years. In common with other faiths the spiritual link here is Love. “All you need is love”

We will begin the Great Get-Together weekend on Saturday 17th at 6pm with a welcome in the church grounds, some music (we’re working towards a People’s Play list) and drinks and outdoor games, followed by a BBQ and picnic. Then more music and dancing, and finally a film showing from 9:30-11:00 in the church before some of us (maximum 40) bed down for the night. Yes, this event will see the first camp over in the life of our church or ‘champing’, as the growing trend is being called. (Fear not there will be camping toilets provided).

The next morning will involve ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Yoga’ for the early risers, a Father’s Day bike ride for dads and children, then breakfast, followed by a special informal church service at 10.00 am. Everyone is welcome to come to just one event or to all of them. Look out for more exciting details in the coming weeks!
