Hambleton News – April 2017

On the evening of March 2nd Miranda Hall together with Richard and Celia Foulkes held a Bridge Drive in our Village Hall in Hambleton from 6.30pm to 10pm. We had 12 tables and could have had more except the helpers needed room to manoeuvre! We charged £15 per person so £60 per table and we all had great fun. The raffle run by Angela Short raised £300 with a first prize of lunch at Hambleton Hall kindly donated by Tim Hart and two very nice bottles of wine generously donated by Ian Blackburn.

Supper of chicken pie cooked by Miranda was delicious and there was a fine array of puddings made by the village.

We all had a very enjoyable evening including the helpers Julia Naylor, Gail Griffin, Joy Robinson and Angela Short.

It was hard work, but we raised the grand total of £1,304! This is pretty amazing for village fundraising and is in aid of the church roof/repair fund.

On Saturday, 18th March the PCC held a ‘Sign a Slate’ event in St Andrew’s Church in order to raise funds for the Church Roof Fund. Villagers were invited to come along to sign a slate recording for posterity their time living in the village. A book was also available for them to sign which will be kept for our church archives. The event will be repeated on Bank Holiday Monday, May 1st, when we will be holding our Open Gardens and Artisan Stalls.
