Mothers’ Union met this month as part of a Deanery Quiet Morning at St Peter and St Paul Uppingham. The morning began with Holy Communion celebrated by the Rector; Canon Rachel and was well attended by the three branches from Uppingham, Ketton and Oakham.
The service was followed by a coffee break which provided members with an opportunity to purchase cards, diaries and badges from the MU stall kindly provided for us by Meg and David Dyer.
The theme of the Quiet Morning was Memories which are triggered by our sense of smell. Rachel had assembled a range of smells and we were invited to use our noses to bring back memories of our own. Judging by the reactions and later comments of those participating, the whole experience was very effective.
Lunch was provided in the church hall and all there enjoyed an excellent choice of soups, sandwiches and cakes. Meg thanked Canon Rachel and all who had provided and served the refreshments. It was clear that everyone had enjoyed the morning.
The next meeting is on November 10th at 2:15pm in the Church Hall and the Speaker will be Helen Bush. Everyone will be very welcome to attend.
